The primary focus is to develop and co-ordinate programs designed to enhance the well being of both the Performing Arts Industry as a whole and its individual’s in South Africa, by creating an infrastructure to ensure that all contestants have a gateway to become a World Champion.

Our vision is to reach all Performing Arts institutions in South Africa and to provide each member with the opportunity for exposure and development in his/her career.

WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF THE SA CHAMPIONSHIPS OF PERFORMING ARTS?

• Agents, Recording Companies, Film Producers, Modeling Agents and other people from the entertainment industry around the world are invited to discover new faces and talent.

• Through this worldwide event as well as the South African event, an opportunity to generate scholarship and grant funds can be realized, i.e. financial assistance for a college education or for career “seed money” to cover costumes, transportation, self-promos, etc. The objective is to eventually set up a global trust fund to assist performing artists.

• To create a positive awareness for the Performing Arts.

• A rare opportunity for “networking” for Performing Arts trainers, schools, directors, families, advertisers, publications and others involved in the industry.

• With the growth of and keen interest in this event, a global telecast can be produced. Millions of people can then be entertained, influenced and aid an industry truly beneficial to people of all ages and nationalities.

• In a country where Performing Arts budgets are being slashed and there is little opportunity of getting exposure to international training and experience and the possibility of being “discovered”.

• The event provides an ideal opportunity for all artists to showcase their talents and to gain exposure to the national and international scene.

• To create a competitive spectacle skin to the Olympics, which can heighten and attract the public awareness of the Performing Arts.

• To provide a formal professional mechanism whereby funds can be attracted to sponsor, support and underpin the continued international and national development and awareness of the Performing Arts.

FORMAT OF THE COMPETITION

The public, advertisers and media all know the “Olympics”-concept. Just like the sports World Championships, countries are invited to send their best performers to the one prestigious, final event to determine who is the “best in the world”. The grand prize at the SA Championships is the GOLD MEDAL, symbolizing excellence. Some performers train all their lives for that single, cherished moment in time at the Championships.

Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals are awarded to individuals and group winners; trophies are presented to overall winners in various categories of the competition every year. Winners are selected to represent South Africa at the World Championships. Agents, directors, producers and others from the “show-biz industry” are also invited to attend.

SPORTSMANSHIP

This is an international event with people travelling from all corners of the world. It is important to always use good sportsmanship. Instructors, teachers, and parents should set the example. Everyone will be focused on the “gold medal” in each age division and every category and style. However, all contestants have the opportunity to be seen. It is not unusual for someone who did not place in the competition to get a professional contract. Any show of bad sportsmanship may cost you this valuable opportunity!
